Day 98: 2/26/19 - B Day: Summarizing and The Hero's Journey Graphic Organizer

Good day 6th Graders,      
       I hope you all had a wonderful winter recess. This week we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts by reading chapters 10 - 12 of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets. We will also watch the 2nd part of the movie.

Homework:
  • Reach Ch. 10
  • Complete Written Response Questions
Activity #1
The Hero's Journey Graphic Organizer
Standards:
RL6.1 - Cite Textual Evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text
RL6.3 - Describe how a particular story's plot unfolds in a series of events as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution

Directions:

  • Use your notes, along with your book to complete the graphic organizer.
  • Column 1 - write the description of that stage of the Hero's Journey from your notes
  • Column 2 - Explain in your own words how Harry Potter fits that stage of the Hero's Journey. 
  • Column 3 - Write down evidence from the text to support your thinking.

Read Aloud Chapter 10
Standards:

Directions:
Answer each question in complete sentences using proper nouns and words from the question to begin your answer.
