Day 177: 6/23/17 - A Day: Last Day of School

Good Morning Rebels, 
         Today is our very last day together before school's out for summer. I am very proud of each and every one of you for your hard work this year.   
        I want you to enjoy your summer vacation, but I also want each of you to promise me that you will spend at least 20 minutes each day reading. Remember, reading is the most important thing you can do for your brain!!! 
          Today you will be taking a trip across the street to meet your 7th grade teachers. You will also get your report cards for the 4th quarter, and supply lists for next year. Your lunch will be at 11:45.

Day 176: 6/22/17 - E Day: Promotion Ceremony

Good Morning Rebels, 
         Today we will have our Promotion Ceremony.  After the ceremony there will be refreshments that you can enjoy with friends and family, followed by the graduation walk for this year's senior class. We will then continue to watch the movie Inkheart.
         I am very proud of each and everyone of you. Enjoy this moment, but don't forget to behave appropriately.

Step 1: Finish drafting your materials/ingredients list & the steps for your "How To" Demonstrations
Step 2: Evaluate your draft with the help of a friend. Ask yourself if your steps are precise enough that any person could use the procedures you wrote up to successfully perform your "How To"
Step 3: Preview your Steps within a small group on the Smart Board

Think of a topic for your "How to" demonstration

Activity #1
  • RL6.7 Compare & Contrast the experience of reading a story to viewing a video, including contrasting what you "see" or "hear" when reading the text to what you perceive when you view the movie.
Expectations:
While you watch the movie record similarities and differences using the graphic organizer. It is very important that you take good notes. You will use the notes as part of our classroom discussion comparing and contrasting the book and the movie

***During each judging session, the students who are not presenting will be judging. 
  • Each presenter should have 3 judges. 
  • Each presenter will present their project 3 times during the 20 minutes presentation session. 
  • I will blow the train whistle to indicate that it is time to rotate to a new presenter. 
  • At the end of each session the judges need to return their evaluation forms to the judges box. 
  • The next presenters will then have a 5 minute time period to prepare for their presentations, and the judges will use that time to get new evaluation forms, and to find new projects to evaluate. 
  • **When we are done each judge will have evaluated 9 Projects.
