Day 94: 2/11/19 - B Day: Analyzing Written Responses & Harry Potter Ch. 7

Good day 6th Graders,      
       This week we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts by reading chapters 7 - 9 of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets. We will also take a Mid-Book assessment on Friday before vacation.

Do Now: 
1. Take out your Written Response Compare/Contrast Essay
2. Write your homework down in your agenda

Homework:
  • Finish Reading Ch 7
  • Complete Cornell Notes
    • Essential Question: How do the events in chapter 7 align with the hero's journey?
    • 8-10 bullets
    • 3-4 Questions: write a level 1, 2, & 3 question
    • 3-4 sentence summary

Homeroom - On Thursday we will have a "Valentines Day" Party. It will include a movie & treats. You are invited to bring in a treat of your liking to share with the class on Thursday. I will bring in a movie for us to watch.

RL.6.7 Compare and contrast the experience of reading a story, to listening to or viewing a video of the text, including contrasting what you "see" and "hear" when reading the text to what you perceive when they listen or watch.

Directions:
  • Share your mini essays with the people at your house table.
  • Work to make any improvements that your essay needs.
  • Remember that your essay should include vocabulary like:

Theme
Exposition
Exciting Incident
Call to adventure
Setting

Chapter 6 House Discussion

Directions:
  • Share your notes from chapter 6 with the people at your house table.
  • Discuss what you believe to be the most important events from the chapter
  • Collaborate about any of the events you believe to be obstacles on Harry's Road of Trials/Rising Action
