Day 90: 2/1/18 - B Day: Characterization & Word Power

Good day 6th Graders,      
       Today we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts. We will continue reading Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets. Do not forget that we are going bowling tomorrow!

1. Find your Hogwarts House Table and have a seat
2. Write your homework down in your agenda

  • Finish any reading from ch 1- 3 that you have not done yet
  • Complete the Word Power Graphic Organizer

Activity #1

Discuss your VENN Diagram with your housemates. Each house must come up for a bullet to put in each section of the VENN Diagram comparing The Dursley's and The Weasley's.
Questions to think about:
-What type of things do the two settings have in common?
-What feelings does Harry have in the two settings?
-How are these two settings different?

Literary Element: Characterization
In your interactive notebook we will be completing a graphic organizer regarding the character Harry Potter. Please get out your interactive notebook and flip to the next clean page.

Activity #3

Word Power Worksheet
We will be using this Word Power worksheet throughout the unit in order to build our vocabulary and understand the content of our HP & the C.O.S. novel.
