Day #60 - 12/8/15 - Unit 2: Stations - Using Depth of Knowledge Stems & Cornell Notes to align two texts

Point to Ponder: Today is a Trivia Tuesday. Pick up a trivia card and take turns asking and answering trivia questions. 

Learning Stations

#1 Guided Reading (We do)
Using Cornell Notes to align the main character from your guided reading book with the hero's journey.
  • Objective = Aligning Two Texts
  • Write an essential question
  • Use the depth of knowledge stems to write a level 1, 2, & 3 question before reading.
  • Write  notes while reading about main events and big ideas.
  • Focus on events that will help you answer the essential question.
    #2 Independent Reading (You do)
    • Read: Finish reading the assigned pages 
    • Build Vocabulary: Add words from your Guided Reading book to your list of vocabulary words
    #3 Word Work (You do)
    • Work on Frayer Models in your Reading Response notebooks for vocabulary words from your guided reading book.
    #4 Work on Writing (You do)
    • Write a summary for today's reading from your guided reading book. Focus on aligning two texts. Use evidence and details from both texts.
    #5 Computer - Open Ed
    • Step 1: Under the LINKS tab, click on the open ed link
    • Step 2: Choose one of the activities to try or one of the videos to watch. 
    • Step 3: Be sure you complete each assignment to the best of your ability.

      Homework: Use your cornell notes to write a summary for todays reading from your Guided Reading Book. Be sure you focus on aligning your book with the hero's journey. Use evidence from both texts!!!
