Day #56 - 12/2/15 -Unit 2: Stations: Using Depth of Knowledge Stems & Cornell Notes to align two texts

Good Morning Sixth Graders,
          I hope you are all having a very good day. Today is an A day. We will go to Gym. Please:

Point to Ponder: Today is a Word Work Wednesday. Please create a Frayer Model Poster 



Learning Stations

#1 Guided Reading (We do)
Using Cornell Notes to align the main character from your guided reading book with the hero's journey.
  • Objective = Aligning Two Texts
  • Write an essential question
    • How does _________________ fit the pattern of the hero's journey, and what part of the hero's journey?
  • Use the depth of knowledge stems to write a level 1, 2, & 3 question before reading.
  • Write  notes while reading about main events and big ideas.
  • Focus on events that will help you answer the essential question.
    #2 Independent Reading (You do)
    • Read: Finish reading the assigned pages 
    • Build Vocabulary: Add words from your Guided Reading book to your list of vocabulary words
    #3 Word Work (You do)
    • Use the dictionary or the word central link to find the location of challenging words from your guided reading book.
    • Use colored pencils and markers to create a Frayer Model Poster for the 'Word Hall'
    #4 Work on Writing (You do)
    • Step 1 Read the article title "BMX Racing"

     




    Step 2 - Answer questions #1 - 7
    Step 3 - Complete the Short Response
    ***Hand it in for a classwork grade***

    #5 Computer
    • Go to Mr. T's Social Studies site
    • Scroll down to play the video titled, "Mesopotamia: Crash Course World History
    • Answer the Key Questions that are directly below the video on Loose leaf. Hand in what you completed at the end of class time.


    Homework: Use your cornell notes to write a summary for todays reading from your Guided Reading Book. Be sure you focus on aligning your book with the hero's journey. Use evidence from both texts!!!
