A Day in the Life of a 6th Grader - Integrating Technology into ELA

Students love using the Ipads to explore 21st century digital literacies! Each day the children read the morning message on the smart board, as well as on their Ipads. They can then use the Ipads to follow along with the ELA  and Social Studies lessons and engage in the material through highly motivating digital means.

Learning Stations:
Students are engaging in nonfiction expository text from NewsELA by reading news articles about current events that are happening in the world around us. They then complete a graphic organizer to make sense of the information they are reading so that they can share the information with the class.
Students are also reading fiction books through their independent reading time, and read aloud. As the students read their novels they write letters to me about the books that they are reading and I can respond to each of them personally.

Keep working hard six graders!!! And remember....Your attitude will often determine your outcome! Stay positive, stay focused, Dream big and believe in yourself, and there is nothing that you can’t do!!!!!
