         Today we will get together with our Literature Circle groups to discuss chapters 10. Please make sure you have:

• Red Folder & Agenda
• ELA Notebook
• Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets

1. Fill out your Agenda with tonight's Homework
2. Put your Lit Circle HW for Ch 10 on your desk 

Homework:

• Read Chapter 11 of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets. Complete your Lit Circle Job (Due Tues 5/16)
• Finish Act 1 of The Hero's Journey Graphic Organizer (Due Monday 5/15)

Ch. 10 Lit Circle Discussions

Rules for Lit Circle Discussions:
The Discussion Director is in charge. They facilitate the conversation.
Sharing goes in this order:
1. The summarizer
2. The Character Captain
3. The Passage Picker
4. The Connector
5. The Vocabulary Enricher
6. The Illustrator
7. The Discussion Director
* Be sure to use the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning
* Each member is expected to contribute to the discussion
* When you share, REMEMBER TO USE QUESTIONS TO ENGAGE THE REST OF YOUR GROUP MEMBERS! When you share it is your job to get the rest of the group involved. The best way to do this is to ask questions, like: what do you think, how did this make you feel, etc. Use open ended questions.

***At the end of your discussion the summarizers will do the 30 Second Recap Challenge.

**How was the first half of the movie similar to the book? How was it different?
1. Why do you think Hermione wants to break the rules and make the potion more than Harry & Ron?
2. What did Lockhart do to Harry's arm? Based on everything you know about Lockhart would you want him performing spells on you? Why, or why not?
3. Who do think is responsible for the strange things that have happened to Harry?
4. What happened to Colin Creevey? What would you do if you were Harry, Ron, or Hermione?

Aligning Two Texts

Your task:

• With a partner complete the graphic organizer aligning Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets with The Hero's Journey. 
• Your goal for today is to fill in up to Act II Stage 1.
