Day 115: 3/20/17 - D Day: Collaborating & Analyzing Reading Response Questions, & Creating Short Written Responses

Good day 6th Graders,      
       I hope you all had a good weekend. Today we will practice making inferences, and creating written responses to short answer state test questions. Please make sure you have:
  • Red Folder & Agenda
  • ELA Notebook
  • Independent Reading book

1. Sharpen Your Pencils
2. Take out your homework - The Disappearing Ship & Indira Gandhi
3. Fill out your Agenda with tonight's Homework
Homework:
  • Read The Monster in Lake Champlain, and answer Questions 1 - 9

Activity #1
Indira Gandhi
  • RI6.1- Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text
  • RI6.2 - Determine a central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details
  • RI6.4 - Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text
  • RI6.5 - Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of ideas.


Your task: Collaborate with a group of your peers to analyze and evaluate your responses from the passage about Indira Gandhi.

Directions:
  • In a group of 4 use the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning to collaborate, analyze, and evaluate your responses
  • Compare your answers. If your answers differ, discuss the evidence from the text that supports your reasoning.
  • Go back in the text and underline evidence that supports your thinking.
  • Number the evidence when you find it.
  • You may change and add to your responses
***You will have 10 minutes to work. Remember this is practice, so when the timer goes off I will share the correct responses so you can see how well you did.
