Day 114: 3/17/17 - C Day: Creating Short Written Responses

Good day 6th Graders,      
       Happy St. Patrick's day! Today we will practice answering short answer state test questions. Please make sure you have:
  • Red Folder & Agenda
  • ELA Notebook
  • Independent Reading book

Homework:
  • Read The Disappearing Ship, and answer Questions 1 - 9

Responding to Short Answer Written Response Questions

Standards
RL6.1 - Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text
RL6.2 Determine a theme or central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details

  • Read Carefully
  • Take your time
  • Go back into the text
  • Underline your evidence
  • Check your answers
  • Make sure you use proper capitals, grammar, and punctuation
Directions for Small Group Work:
  • In a group of 3 collaborate to analyze and evaluate your responses
  • Compare your answers
  • Go back in the text and underline evidence that supports your thinking.
  • Be sure to number the evidence when you find it.
  • You may change and add to your responses
