Day #149 - 5/15/15 - Unit 4 Lesson 10: Ch 10 & Gathering Information and Tracing an Argument


Good Morning Rebels, 
          Today is an ‘E’ day so we will go to Art. We will also go to the computer lab again to continue our research. In the afternoon there will be a presentation about the different sports teams you can try out for next year.  
          Please hand in your Independent Reading Log by placing it on the black stool. Remember to order your lunch, sharpen your pencils, and then work on the Point to Ponder.

Chapter 9 - Frightful Finds Sam: Quiz
I can respond to multiple choice and short answer questions about chapter 9 of the novel, Frightful’s Mountain.

& Tracing an Argument:

Use your key words & questions to search using the links to the following search engines 
  • When you get your search results be sure to look at the name of the website, and the name of the article. Look at the ending of the website to help you. 
.gov = government - sponsored by the government
.org = organization - sponsored by various organizations
.edu = education - sponsored by schools and universities
.com = commercial - sponsored by individuals or commercial businesses
  • Begin by clicking on the article & scanning the info. 
  • Use the graphic organizer to record the Title of the article, the name of the resource, and important information.
  • Decide what the authors claims are.
  • Select what evidence the author uses to support their claim
  • Evaluate if there is enough evidence to support the claim.
  • Decide What i the authors Main Argument.
  • Evaluate the Quality of the source
* You need multiple sources!!! (at least 3-4 & 1 book if possible)
* You will fill in a “Tracing the author’s argument for each resource.
* You will use the “Tracing Arguments” graphic organizers to help you write your Research Based Persuasive Essay and complete your project.

I can present information about my literature circle job for chapter 9 to a group of my peers.

Finish reading Chapter 10,
 There are Eggs and Trouble, Pages 112 - 123
& complete your Lit Circle Job
 Due Monday 5/18/15
