Activity #4
Independent Reading & Research

Directions for Independent Reading:
Read for 15 - 20 minutes without interuption. Then complete your reading log activities.
Reading Logs will be due Friday, May 8th.
Key Question: How do I begin doing research?

Directions:
Today is all about narrowing down the choices for the topic of your research.

Step 1 - Select 2 to 3 of the general topics to begin researching.
Step 2 - Create a list of questions you want to find the answers to about that topic.
Step 3 - Use the ipads or computers and go to google to begin searching your topic. At first keep your search general and see what you find. You can then modify the “Key Words” you are searching to seek out additional information.
Step 4 - Use your Cornell notes to record your findings. Record the source(website) where you found the information. When you write notes you need to decide if the source is a valid source or not. A valid source is credible. An invalid source is not effective to use in research!!

Homework:
Finish reading chapter 4 of the Novel Frighful's Mountain and complete your Lit Circle Job
