Day 127: 4/5/17 - A Day: Text Features & Preparing for Research

Good day 6th Graders,      
        Today we will  get new notes on Text Features. We will also choose our research topics and start filling out our research graphic organizer. Lastly we will preview outlines for your research paper. Please make sure you have:
  • Red Folder & Agenda
  • ELA Notebook

Do Now: 
1. Hand in your Quick Comprehension Questions from ch 1
2. Fill out your Agenda with tonight's Homework
4. Pick up a copy of each of the text structure notes for today. Color code it similar to my example.
Homework:
  • Finish Reading Ch. 2 of HP & the COS. Complete your Lit Circle Job

W6.8 Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, & assess the credibility of each source.

  • What environmental issue are you going to research?
  • What is the general questions you are beginning with to conduct your research?
  • What are the two sides of the issue?
Key Words for Research:
  • What key words will you use to conduct your research?
  • What key questions will you use to conduct your research
Research Outline:
  • Preview the outline that students will use to write their Research Essays.

If we finish early you may work on your lit circle job. Remember it is due tomorrow.
