Day 81: 1/17/17 - E day: Paraphrasing Stanzas 1-3 of 'If' by Rudyard Kipling

Good day 6th Graders,      
         Welcome ladies and gentlemen. This week we will be continue unit 2 about Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Informational Texts by paraphrasing the poem, "IF" by Rudyard Kipling . Please make sure you have:

Activity #1
The Kindness Challenge
Create your sign about what you did to show kindness in your community this last week. I will be back tomorrow to take your picture. Make sure you keep your sign. Do not lose it. Remember to:
  • Write Big
  • Make sure your spelling is correct
  • Include an illustration to go with your sign

  • RI6.4 - Determine the meaning of unknown words and phrases aa they are used in a text, including figurative language, connotative and technical meaning.
  • RI6.5 - Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, stanza, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of ideas.


Directions: Work with a partner to paraphrase stanza 1. There are a total of 8 rules to live by in stanza 1. See if you can find all 8.
