Day #57 - 12/1/14 - Unit 2: Lesson 9 Part II

Good Morning 6th Graders,
      I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break. Let’s make today awesome!!! It is a ‘B’ day so we will go to Gym. Please be sure that you have all your materials for Block 1, including your gym clothes and deodorant. Last, pick up an Ipad for your triad and work on the Point to Ponder.

Reread the Myth of Prometheus
& Review the Key Elements of Mythology
Here is a list: (Lesson 4 Pages 12-13)
  1. Tension between Opposing Forces in the Universe

  3. Explanation of the Origins of Life & the Natural World
  4. Fate and Prophecy
  5. Supernatural or Non-human Characters
  6. A Quest or Completion of a Task
The Myth of Prometheus



Review 'Key Elements of Mythology' Graphic Organizer. You will use this organizer to write your own mini-essay.
  • What did we put in the first box titled, Details from the Prometheus myth?
  • What did we put in the box titled, My Thinking About this Detail?




    Activity #2
    What themes do you see in the myth of Prometheus?(Use lesson 3 page 10)

    Directions:

    1. Discuss with your triad group.
    2. Identify one of the themes that you see
    3. Highlight the evidence in the text in Yellow
    You must be able to support your thinking with details!!

    2. How did the 2nd graphic organizer help you understand a theme in the Prometheus myth?
    3. Do you think you could now use your graphic organizers to write your own mini-essay, with an introduction, 2 body paragraphs, and conclusion?

    Look for elements of mythology and Complete book notes about the elements that you see.
    (You will need your 'Elements of Mythology' Text to complete this assignment)

    5. Make an Inference about the main character. Use evidence from the text to support your inference.

    7. Finish with a question or something that you wonder.
