Day 79: 1/15/20 - C Day: Drafting Persuasive Essays (Paragraphs 1 - 3)

Good day 6th Graders,      
       As we wrap up unit 2 about Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Informational Texts we will be using our outlines to begin drafting our persuasive speeches.

Do Now: 
1. Fill out your Agenda with tonight's Homework
Homework:
  • Finish drafting the first 3 paragraphs of your persuasive essay (Use Kidblog - or Paper & Pencil. It is your choice, but I strongly recommend you use Kidblog)
Steps you should be working through:
1. Finish Finding your two articles
2. Read & annotate your articles
3. Complete the Gathering Info Graphic Organizers
4. Write your Thesis Statement - in your notebook
5. Complete the Outline
  • Start with the Thesis
  • Then put in your 3 reasons
  • Go from beginning to end
  • You may skip parts and come back to them later
  • Be sure to include your sources
  • Use your Checklist if you are unsure about what to do
  • You do not need to write in complete sentences 
6. Drafting - Paragraphs 1, 2, & 3

  • Reason #2

c. Use words, phrases, and clauses to clarify the relationships among claims and reasons.

e. Provide a concluding statement or section that follows from the argument presented.
