Author's Purpose Assessment
Standards:
RI6.6 Determine an author's point of view, or purpose, in a text and explain how it is conveyed in the text

Direction:
Step 1 - Review Homework using the Mix and Mingle Protocol that we learned yesterday to share responses to your Author's purpose practice

Step 2 - Independently read each passage and circle author's purpose that corresponds with that passage

Activity #2
Read-a-loud Chapter 10 - Summarizing
Standards:
RL6.2 'Provide a summary of a text distinct from personal opinions'
RL6.3 'Describe how a particular story's plot unfolds in a series of events'

Essential Question:
What important events would you include in a summary of chapter 10?

Directions:
List 5 events that happened in chapter 10 in the order that they happened.
Be sure to write them in your own words.
Be sure to write in complete sentences.



RTI - B Day 11/28/17
Step 1 - Pick up a copy of the article about Healthy Eating 
Step 2 - Read through your article to get a basic understanding of what the article is about.
Step 3 - Reread the article a 2nd time and use the Highlighting Strategy to identify the:
  • Topic
  • Topic Sentence
  • Supporting Details
  • Main Idea

Step 4 - Complete the Main Idea Graphic Organizer
Step 5 - Draft a summary

***When you are done you will bring your work to me and we will conference about your article. I will be asking:
1. What is the topic of your article?
2. What is the topic sentence?
3. What is the Main Idea?
4. What supporting details led you to think that?
