Day #131 - 4/21/15 - Mod 2a Unit 2 Lesson 16: Poetry - Sharing Free Verse Poems, Sampling Poetry & Writing Bio-Poems

Good Morning Rebels, 
          Today is a ‘B’ day so we will go to Gym. Remember to order your lunch and sharpen your pencils. Please read the Point to Ponder very carefully this morning and begin working quietly.

P2P: Take out your free verse poem and practice reading it to yourself. After you’ve read through it several times, share it with a friend a get 1 piece of feedback to make your poem better. Make the revision, then find another friend to share your poem with. Repeat the process.

Sharing your free verse poem
I can share my poetry with a group of my peers in order to receive feedback to improve my writing. 
(If you want to type up your free verse poem you may do so at lunch time or during another free moment during the day)

Activity #2
Poetry Preview
I can record my thinking while I preview samples of poetry.
Key Questions:
What do you like about the poems, or poet?
What metaphors and similes do the poets use?
What are some of the topics?
Do the poems have a rhyme scheme?
How do the poems make you feel?
What pictures come into your mind?
What creative & figurative language does the poet use?
