Day 95: 2/11/20 - C Day: Mid-book Assessment

Good day 6th Graders,      
       This week we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Text. We will also take a Mid-Book assessment today.

Do Now: 
1. Make sure you have a sharp pencil for the test
2. Hand in your homework from chapter 9
3. Write down your homework

Homework:
  • Read Chapter 10
  • Complete the Written Response Questions
    • Remember that you will be expected to write in complete sentences. This will count as your 3rd quiz grade for this unit. 

Agenda
  • Mid-book Assessment
Part 1 - Vocabulary - 2 points each
Part 2 - Multiple Choice Comprehension - 2 point each
Part 3 - Short Answer (10 Points each)
Part 4 - Written Response (10 Points: 2 point for naming the setting, 4 points for describing the setting using specific details, 3 points for describing how the setting makes Harry feel, 1 Point for Mechanics, and conventions)

When you are done with the test you should:
  1. Read Chapter 10
  2. Begin completing the written response questions

Goal: To read fictional texts for enjoyment and discuss them with a group of our peers in order to improve our comprehension .

Standards:
RL6.1 - Cite Textual Evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text
RL6.3 - Describe how a particular story's plot unfolds in a series of events as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution

Key Questions:
  • What do you know about the main character? How? 
  • What Predictions can you make?
  • What Inferences did you make based on today's reading?
  • What questions do you have? (Use D.O.K.)
