Day 94: 2/6/20 - SNOW DAY - B Day: STAR Assessment & Harry Potter Ch. 9

Good day 6th Graders,      
       This week we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts.

Do Now: 
1. Write your homework down in your agenda
2. Log in to your computer
3. Put your Homework from chapter 8 on your table

Homework:
  • Finish Reading Ch 9
  • Complete the Written Response Questions
    • ***This will be handed in for a Quiz grade. YOU MAY NOT USE YOUR HW PASS ON THIS ASSIGNMENT!*** We will be doing this type of assessment again on Ch. 10 & 16

STAR Assessment
It is once again time to evaluate our reading comprehension. Make sure you:
1. Take your time
2. Read & reread each question & passage  carefully
3. Use Process of elimination


Activity #2
Independent Reading Chapter 9

When you finish the STAR assessment, sit quietly and begin reading chapter 9. As you read Chapter 9 you will need to create written responses to the questions in complete sentences. Remember to use words from the question in your answers.
When everyone is done with STAR we will have a whole group discussion about Chapter 8.

House Discussion Chapter 8
Standards:
RL6.1 - Cite Textual Evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text
RL6.3 - Describe how a particular story's plot unfolds in a series of events as well as how the characters respond or change as the plot moves toward a resolution

Discussion Questions:
1. Where is Harry going at the start of this chapter?
2. What happens while Harry is there, and what happens right after?
3. Would you have followed the voice?
4. What should Harry have done?
5. How would you react to the scene if you were one of the other students at Hogwarts?

Goal: To read fictional texts for enjoyment and discuss them with a group of our peers in order to improve our comprehension .
