                        Thank you
                       Mr. Trumble
Point to Ponder: Look at the 2 images below. In your ELA notebook write down 2 inferences for each image.

Activity #1
Identifying Point of View
  • RL6.6 Explain how the author develops the point of view of the narrator in a text
What do you see in this image?
  • Point of View: The perspective of the person telling the story
  • Answers the Question: Who is telling the story? Who is the narrator?

First Person - Told from the viewpoint of one of the characters using the pronouns "I" and "we"

Third Person: Limited - The narrator is an outside observer that is limited to knowing the thoughts and feelings of only one Character

Third Person: Omniscient - The narrator is an outside observer who can tell the reader the thoughts & feelings of ALL the characters

Third Person: Objective - The narrator reports the facts of the story as a neutral and impersonal outside observer

Read each example below. Have a discussion with your group members about what Point of View is being used in each example. Be sure you can explain your thinking.
Example
I was mad at Shay. I blamed her.
Shay just left without saying anything.
She left a note and then left me.
