  • What odd thing did the bludger do?

  • What are your thoughts about Lockhart?
  • Have you ever had to go to the hospital? What for? How did you feel about having to go to the hospital?

  • What happened to Colin Creevey?
  • Who do you think is responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets?

Directions:
Read each question and answer in a complete sentence. YOU MUST ANSWER IN A FULLY DEVELOPED COMPLETE SENTENCE, which includes using proper nouns, words from the question, and specific details. If you do not answer in a complete sentence you will not be able to earn full credit. Sixth grade standards require you to write in fully developed complete sentences, and that will be the expectation on all of your quizzes.

***For the Quiz you must go to google classroom.

Activity #2
 Summarizing Assessment

Directions:
Instead of working in groups like usual, today you will need to write your summary independently on Google classroom. This will count as a quiz grade.

Your summaries should include:
  • the main idea (think mood/big idea)
  • the most important details from the chapter
  • reflection (Your own thoughts about the events of the chapter)

Use the discussion questions to help you think about what details you should include.
  • Why do you think Hermione wants to break the rules and make the potion more than Harry and Ron?
  • What odd thing did the bludger do?
  • What did Lockhart do to Harry's arm?
  • What are your thoughts about Lockhart?
  • Have you ever had to go to the hospital? What for? How did you feel about having to go to the hospital?
  • Who is responsible for the strange things that have happened to Harry?
  • What happened to Colin Creevey?
  • Who do you think is responsible for opening the Chamber of Secrets?
  • Do you think the school should be closed down? Explain.
Think about these questions as you write:
  • What does my summary need to start with?
  • Have I written the main idea?
  • What did I write for your main idea?
  • What details should I include?
  • Why are those details important?
  • Have I used any transitional words to connect my thoughts and sentences?
  • Are there any places where I could use transitional words or phrases.
  • What are my thoughts on the events of the chapter? (reflection)
  • Have I checked my Capitals, Periods, Grammar, & Sentence Structure

YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO FOLOW THE RULES OF WRITING.
  • Indent the first sentence
  • Put spaces between your words
  • Proper capitalization & Punctuation
  • Spelling matters (You should not be spelling words from the book incorrectly, especially character's names)
