Day 166: 6/8/17 - E Day: Ch 18 Lit Circle Discussion & THE LEARNING FAIR!!!!

Good day 6th Graders,      
         Today we will get together with our Literature Circle groups to discuss chapters 18. We will also need to set up our projects for the Learning Fair. Please make sure you have:
  • Red Folder & Agenda
  • ELA Notebook
  • Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets

Do Now: 
1. Fill out your Agenda with tonight's Homework 
2. Pick up a trivia card and enjoy asking and answering questions
Homework: 
Begin to think of a topic for your 'How To" demonstration. There will only be 1 person allowed per 'topic', meaning that once 1 person has signed up to make slime, no one else can sign up for that same topic, so be sure to have several ideas ready.

Rules for Lit Circle Discussions:
The Discussion Director facilitates the conversation.
Sharing goes in this order:
1. The summarizer
2. The Character Captain
3. The Passage Picker
4. The Connector
5. The Vocabulary Enricher
6. The Illustrator
7. The Discussion Director

The Learning Fair
  • Block 1 Presenters 11:50 - 12:10 
  • Block 2 Presenters 12:15 - 12:35
  • Block 3 Presenters 12:40 - 1:00
  • Block 4 Presenters 1:05 - 1:25
  • Free Viewing time 1:30 - 1:45
***During each judging session, the students who are not presenting will be judging. 
  • Each presenter should have 3 judges. 
  • Each presenter will present their project 3 times during the 20 minutes presentation session. 
  • I will blow the train whistle to indicate that it is time to rotate to a new presenter. 
  • At the end of each session the judges need to return their evaluation forms to the judges box. 
  • The next presenters will then have a 5 minute time period to prepare for their presentations, and the judges will use that time to get new evaluation forms, and to find new projects to evaluate. 
  • **When we are done each judge will have evaluated 9 Projects.
