Good Morning Sixth Graders,
          I hope you all got your homework done. Let's make today a wonderful Wednesday.  Today we will discuss chapter 8, and read chapter 9 of Bud, Not Buddy. We will also continue analyzing the commencement speech by Steve Jobs.  Today is a D day, so we will go  to Library.

    Today we will:
    • record unknown words in our word catcher and use context clues to determine the meaning of those unknown words so we can better understand a piece of literature and build vocabulary. 
    • evaluate how Bud's experiences of Love and Loss are similar and different to Steve Job's experiences, so we can compare and contrast people from two separate texts.

      As we listen we will:
      • Evaluate how Steve Job's experiences are similar to Bud's experiences 
      • identify the meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary from the context.
      Video - Stop at 8:45








      In small groups of 3: 
      • Write the Gist of each paragraph in the margin
      • complete the graphic organizer comparing Steve's and Bud's experiences.

      Homework: 
      1. Finish reading chapter  9 of Bud, Not Buddy 2. Add new and challenging words to your word catcher. 
      3. Complete Chapter 9 Homework - Answering Text Dependent Questions
