6th Grade Procedures


Welcome to Sixth Grade!
Here are the Procedures you will be expected to follow

Homeroom:
1.      Use the bathroom
2.      Read the morning message
3.      Check that all homework assignments are completed
4.      Check that you have all the materials you need
5.      Complete any morning tasks
Breakfast:
·        If you choose to get breakfast it is your responsibility to remember to stop first thing in the morning on your way past the cafeteria.
·        You will eat breakfast in the cafeteria
·        You should wash your hands before returning to the 6th grade hallway
Lockers:
·        Respect your Locker. Keep your combination private!!!
·        Be responsible by keeping your locker neat and organized.
·        Please open and close your lockers quietly.
·        Visit your locker
                        1. Before Homeroom & in between each class
                        2. Before & After Lunch
                        3. At the end of the day
Entering the Classroom & Walking in the Halls:
·        As 6th Graders you will be given the opportunity to walk independently in the hallways.
·        Be responsible and always WALK. (2 abreast )
·        Be respectful and use a quiet voice
·        Stay to the right and go directly to your destination
·        Bring all the materials you will need
·        If you don’t follow these rules you may lose the privilege to walk in the hallways independently.
Agendas:
·        Bring your Agenda with you to each class
·        It is your responsibility to write down homework & reminders every day
·        Your agenda should go home and return to school each day!!
Pencils & other Writing Supplies:
·        It is your responsibility to bring 2 pencils and a pen to each class
·        Pencils may be sharpened during homeroom and at the start of each class
Classroom Library Books(ELA & Social Studies Only)
·        Be respectful of all school materials, especially books
·        Have a book on you at all times – Read, Read, Read
·        Leave the classroom library neat when you are done finding a book
·        Be sure to return books from the section you found them in: Fiction/Non-Fiction
·        There will be a sign-out sheet you must complete to take out a book
Classroom sign-out:
·        BATHROOM SHOULD BE USED BETWEEN CLASSES.
·        Ask teacher permission before signing out of classroom
You must sign out & sign in each time you leave the room
Record the time and your reason for leaving in the classroom sign-out book
·        YOU MUST SIGN IN WHEN YOU RETURN TO THE ROOM!
·        Be respectful of the other people who share the bathrooms
·        It is your responsibility to keep them clean
·        Only one student at a time can use the bathroom
·        You may not go to the bathroom while the teacher is giving instruction.
Chairs:
·        Chairs must be pushed in when you leave the room or get up to work in another area
·        Chairs need to be stacked at the end of each day and un-stacked each morning
·        Four on the Floor (all 4 legs of your chair need to remain on the floor – No tilting!!)
Lunch:
·        Walk quietly and respectfully to and from the cafeteria
Dismissal:
·        Dismissal is at 3:35
·        Exit through the cafeteria doors
·        Be sure to walk all the way to your bus
Electronic Devices:
·        Use of personal Electronic devices by students is STRICTLY PROHIBITED unless instructed to do so by the teacher.
·        The 1st time a student is caught using an electronic device at a prohibited time the student will be given a warning and the device will be held on the teacher’s desk till the end of the day.
·        If there is a 2nd offense the electronic device will be turned over to the office, and a phone call may be made home.

Always remember to be respectful, be responsible, and when life gets tough, persevere through those obstacles. When you are willing to work hard and persevere you can break through the barriers that would keep you from achieving your goals! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. We learn most when we are willing to fail. Set your goals high, and don’t ever forget: If you can dream it, then you can achieve it!
