Day 88: 1/30/19 - D Day: The Hero's Journey & Harry Potter Chapter 3

Good day 6th Graders,      
       Today we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts. We will continue reading Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets.

Do Now: 
1. Find your Hogwarts House Table and have a seat
2. Write your homework down in your agenda
3. Pick up a copy of the Hero's Journey Notes from the music stand
4. Pick up an orange, green, & yellow highlighter
Homework:
  • Finish reading Ch 3 of HP & the C.O.S. 
  • Complete the Venn Diagram Comparing & Contrasting the Dursley's House & the Weasley's House

Questions to think about:
-What Happened in chapter 2?
-What notes did you take on chapter 2?
-What out of those notes did you find to be the most important?
-Did you like the note taking strategy that you used?
-What about the note taking strategy did you like or dislike?

The Hero's Journey
We are continuing to build our understanding of the Hero's Journey

Questions to think about:
  1. How is Harry an example of a Literary Hero?
  2. What stages of the Hero's Journey has Harry already gone through?
  3. How do you know?

Activity #3
 Harry Potter Chapter 3

Questions to think about:
-What is similar about the two settings?
-What is different about the two settings?
-What are Harry's feeling and emotions in the different settings?
