Day 3: 9/8/17 - C Day: What's your Learning Style, & Anchor Charts for Rules

Good Morning 6th Graders,
          Today is a 'C' Day. Please be sure to use the bathroom & sharpen your pencils. Make sure you have everything you need for your morning classes. Please pick up a new schedule & discard your old one Also, hand in any important forms that you have returned to school. Today we have a special assembly first thing this morning so we will have shortened blocks.

1. Pick up a 'Welcome' Letter
2. Pick up a 'Consent' Form
3. Hand in the "Who are You?" shield.
4. Work on the Reading Attitude Survey. Read each question/statement, and circle the 'Garfield' that corresponds with the way you feel about each. 
When everyone is done I will show you how to score your survey.


Activity #1
What is your Learning Style?
  • Every one of you has your own unique learning style. 
  • Learning styles are:
    • Visual
    • Auditory
    • Kinesthetic
  • This questionnaire will help you and I determine what kind of learner you are. 
  • By knowing this information we will be able to maximize your potential this year.

Homework: 
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Make sure you have an Independent Reading Book
3. Finish the "Who are You?" activity if you have not yet completed it

    Creating Anchor Charts to establish Classroom Rules
    Standard SL6.1 - Engage Effectively in a range of collaborative discussions with diverse partners on grade 6 topics, building on each others' ideas and expressing your own ideas clearly.

    Key questions to consider:
    1. What is (respect, responsibility, integrity)
    2. What does (respect, responsibility, integrity) look like at school, with your homework, with your teachers, with your self with each other?
    3. What does (respect, responsibility, integrity) sound like at school, with your homework, with your teachers, with your self, and with others?
    4. How can you show (respect, responsibility, integrity) with your work, teachers, yourself and others?

    Directions:

      • Work with your group members to discuss the assigned rule/character trait.
      • Then create a poster or display of what your group discussed regarding how this rule applies to our classroom.
      • You could include a list of details, images, charts, etc. 
      • Your poster should have large print and detailed pictures.
      • Choose a spokesperson to share the information.
