Day 80: 1/18/23 - Bud, Not Buddy Chapter 14

Homeroom:

          Good Morning, I hope you are all having a wonderful Wednesday Please use this time to get ready for your day.

Do Now:

  1. Check that your homework is done
  2. Make sure you have all your materials
  3. Sharpen pencils

ELA:

Good Day 6th Graders,

          Today we will review chapter 13 and read chapter 14 of Bud, Not Buddy.

Do Now:

  • Take out your homework from chapter 13
  • Write your homework in your agenda
  • Pick up a copy of the Figurative Language graphic organizer and a T-chart
Homework:
  • Read Chapter 14
  • Complete the Figurative Language graphic organizer. Include T-Chart with plot events & 2-3 questions
  • Work on Enrichment Project (Due 1/27)

Review Ch 13 Graphic Organizer

Essential Questions for Chapter 13:
  • How does Herman E. Calloway react to Bud?
  • How does Steady Eddie react to Bud?
  • How does Jimmy react to Bud?
  • How does Doug the Thug react to Bud?


Activity #2
Read-a-loud Chapter 14 - Identifying Figurative Language
Standards:
RL6.2 'Provide a summary of a text distinct from personal opinions'
RL6.3 'Describe how a particular story's plot unfolds in a series of events'


Directions:
  • As we read I want you to underline any new, challenging, or unfamiliar words. 
  • On the T-chart write as many level 2 & 3 questions as you can.
  • Create a list of plot events

Essential Question for Chapter 14:
  • What type of figurative language is used in each of the passages?
