Day 94: 2/10/20 - B Day: House Discussion, Vocabulary & Harry Potter Ch. 9

Good day 6th Graders,      
       This week we will continue unit 3, Critical Analysis & Evaluation of Fictional Texts by reading Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets.

Do Now: 
1. Find your Hogwarts House Table and have a seat
2. Write your homework down in your agenda
3. Take out your homework from chapter 8
Homework:
  • Read Chapter 9 & complete the Written Response Questions
  • Complete the Vocabulary Matching #1 - 10 (This is exactly the same as the first part of your Mid-Book Test!!! And remember, you can use all your notes on the test!)
Activity #1
House Discussion
&
45 Second Summary Challenge
(Ch. 8)

Directions:
In your notebook you will write a summary of the events in chapter chapter 8 (Round 1) and then Chapter 9 (Round 2) Your summaries should include the main idea, & the most important details from the chapter.

You will then choose 1 person to read theirs out loud as part of the 60 second summary challenge. The winning house will receive points for their house!

Activity #2
Vocabulary Chapter 1- 9

Directions:
  • Use a computer, or your phone:
  • Look up the vocabulary words and match them with the corresponding definition.
  • These words will be the exact vocabulary words that will be on part 1 of your mid-book test tomorrow. And remember that you can use all your notes on the test, so if you do a thorough job on this activity, you should get a prefect score on this section of your test.

Read-Aloud Chapter 9

Directions:
As we read Chapter 9 you will need to create written responses to the questions in complete sentences. Remember to use words from the question in your answers.
