Day #32 - 10/17/14 - DRA Day

Good Morning Hero’s
     Today is a ‘B' day so make sure you have your gym clothes and deodorant. We will also be doing DRA’s today, so instead of working on our modules, you will have extended Learning Stations today. In addition you will be given extra time to work on your Imaginary Nation in Social Studies. Please be sure you have:

  • ELA Binder
  • Social Studies Folder & Colored Pencils
  • Independent Reading Book
  • Red Folder & Agenda

  • Select a category & choose an article that looks interesting.
  • YOU CAN ONLY LOOK AT 1 OR 2 DIFFERENT ARTICLES TODAY. IF YOU RUN OUT OF “VIEWS” I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOG YOU IN!
  • Read the Article that is at just the Right level for YOU!!
  • Complete the 5 W’s Graphic Organizer, and then use it to write a paragraph about the article
  •  Due: Fri 10/17
Station 3  Independent Reading (Fiction/Narrative)
  • Remember to fill in your “Book Notes” at the end of each reading session
  • Letters will be due on Friday Oct. 17 (Block 1 only)

Criteria for Independent Reading Letter # 3
Block 1 - Due Friday October 17
Block 2 - Due Friday October 24
Paragraph 1
1. Tell me the title and author 
2. Write the Gist
3. Write a brief summary

Paragraph 2
4. Describe the main character (What type of person is the main character?)
5. Make an Inference about the main character. Use evidence from the text to support your inference. 

Paragraph 3
6. Write a prediction about what you think might happen in the book.
7. Finish with a question or something that you wonder.
