Activity #1: Read-Aloud Chapter 10 of

- Use the word catcher from Lesson 1 page 11
- As we read write down any interesting or challenging words.
- Write down the page number that goes with each word
Activity 2: Determine the Meaning
of Unknown Words
- First, what words did you record on your “Word Catcher?”
- Next, we will use Context Clues to figure out the meaning of some of those words
- Then with your triad group, select 3 words from your word catcher to complete the “Thinking Deeply about Vocabulary” graphic organizer on page 16.
