Independent Reading
- Standard RL6.1 - Making Inferences and using evidence to support your thinking
- Standard RL6.2 - Provide a summary of a text
Today you will continue to build your reading stamina. While you read make inferences about the main characters in your story.
- use sticky notes to annotate your book.
- Notes should be about Figurative Language, characterization, important plot events, or Conflict

2. Log on to kidblog and create a post about your independent reading book. Write about the main characters, including inferences you have made about them. Include information about the types of figurative language you have noticed in your book. Use the Frayer Model to create a visual display of a vocabulary word from Freak the Mighty on a piece of plain white paper

Parts of a Frayer Model:
- Vocabulary Word - Should be written LARGELY and in the center of your diagram
- Definition - Kid Friendly and in your own words. Include the part of speech it is (Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb)
- Characteristics - Include the sentence from the text that contained your chosen vocabulary word.
- Example - Write down all examples of the word including Synonyms(Words that mean the same)
- Non-example - Write down all antonyms (Words that mean the opposite)

Writing
- Standard W6.3 Write Narratives using effective technique, relative descriptive details, and a well structured sequence
Today's writing Theme = Friendship
Directions:
I want you to engage in narrative writing about the theme of friendship. You might write a short story about two or more friends. You might write a narrative about yourself and something you did with one of you best friends, or about how you met. It is up to you. Once everyone has been to the writing station we will look at each others writing and examine it for how it shows the theme of friendship.

Homework: Finish reading chapter 11 & 12 and complete 6-7 annotations on conflicts or important events that you could put on the plot line
