  1. Check that your homework is done
  2. Check to see if you have all your materials
  3. Sharpen pencils

          Today we will evaluate the exposition, inciting incident and point of view of Freak the Mighty, and read chapter 18.

  • Write tonight's Independent Work in your agenda
  • Pick up a copy of the plot line from the black table and a highlighter (Any Color)
Independent work:
  • Read Chapter 18
  • Complete the Reading Guide

Activity #1
Analyzing Plot
I can analyze the exposition, inciting incident and the point of view of Freak the Mighty, and record my thinking on a plot line.

Directions:
Complete the following parts of the plot line.
  • Exposition (Setting & Main Characters)
  • Inciting Incident
  • Point of View & Perspective
  • Rising Action: 3 - 5 challenges/obstacles

Read Chapter 18
I can read chapters 18 of Freak the Mighty and record my thinking, including inferences I make, about the literary elements listed below.

Directions:
Complete each section of the graphic organizer
  • Setting - Be sure to describe in detail
  • Characters - Write as much as you learn
  • Plot - 8-10 Bullets
  • Questions - 2 to 3 questions
  • Conflict - Write down any conflicts that you see.
