Activity #2
How has Bud’s life changed now that he is living in Grand Rapids?

Directions:
Write a paragraph to answer the question above. See the Criteria for your paragraph!

Criteria:
Introduction
  • Now that Bud is living in Grand Rapids with Herman E. Calloway’s band his life is very different from when he was living in Flint.
Details
  • Give 4 details about how Bud’s life has changed
    • 2 details about his life in Flint
    • 2 details about his life in Grand Rapids
  • Describe what Bud’s life was like in Flint.
  • Describe what Bud’s life is like now in Grand Rapids.
Conclusion:
  • Reflect on how Bud’s life has changed
  • Has his life changed for the better or the worse?
  • What is Bud’s future going to be like?

Example

Now that Bud is living in Grand Rapids with Herman E. Calloway’s Band his life is very different from when he was living in Flint. When Bud was living in Flint he had to live in an orphanage, or at a foster home with people he didn’t like. In Grand Rapids Bud gets to live with Miss Thomas and Herman E. Calloway. He even gets his own bedroom to sleep in, and learns how to play music with the band.  In Flint Bud went on the lam and had to go to the mission to get many of his meals. The mission is a place where men, women, and children who have no money and nothing to eat could go to receive a free meal and it was always the same thing to eat for everyone. In Grand Rapids Bud gets to go out to eat in restaurants where he gets to order anything he wants to eat. Bud’s life has improved greatly since he left Flint to go to Grand Rapids. I think someday he might even become a famous musician like his grandfather Herman E. Calloway.
