- Finish the 4 types of Conflict practice on Google Classroom
- Work on IXL
Activity #1
Chapter 16 Quiz
(10 minutes)
1. Log in to your chromebook.
2. Go to google classroom & Find Mr. Trumble's ELA
3. Click on the classwork tab
4. Complete the quiz independently. You may use your notes & book, but keep your answers private, and the room should remain silent. When you are done, review your answers, then close your computer.
When everyone is done we will go over the reading guide in small groups.

- Who are the 2 main characters?
- What do you know about them?
- How do you know? (What is your evidence?)
- What do you think about them so far?
- What is the setting? When & Where. Include Descriptive details.
- What are the important plot events? What happened in this chapter?
Best Question:
- Meet with your small group
- Take turns sharing the level 2 & 3 questions you wrote
- Discuss your answers to the questions
- Pick 1 question that you think is best
- We will then share those questions with the whole class

I can read a short passage and identify what type of conflict the character is experiencing.
Notes:
- There are 2 categories of conflict (Internal & External)
- There are 4 different types:
1. Man vs. Man (External)
- A struggle between a character and another character
- Protagonist vs Antagonist
2. Man vs. Nature (External)
- A struggle between a character and nature
- Includes weather, animals, sickness, etc
3. Man vs. Society (External)
- A struggle between a character & the laws or beliefs of a large group
- could involve poverty, politics, social norms, expectations, etc
4. Man vs. Self (Internal)
- A struggle between a character and their choices, negative thoughts, & feelings
