I have truly enjoyed reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with you. Next week we will watch the movie and finish this unit with a small group mini project comparing and contrasting the book with the movie. Today we will be working on our last vocabulary model. We will present them tomorrow.
Thank You,
Mr. Trumble

Activity #1
Frayer (Vocabulary) Models
Directions:
- Find a fun, interesting, new, or challenging word from chapter 14 - 18
- Sign up for your word on the chart paper. Include your name, word, & page # (Virtual students - tell your homeroom teacher the word you want to sign up for)
- Once a word is taken it may not be used again by any other student in that classroom
Frayer Models have 6 sections
- The word goes in the middle (Big and Bold)
- Sentence from the text goes in the top left. Include the page number.
- Copy the whole sentence. Properly!
- The definition of the word goes in the top right. Include the part of speech (Noun, Verb, Adjective, or Adverb)

- Synonyms & examples go in the lower left. Synonyms are words that mean the same thing
- Use your own knowledge, along with wordcentral.com
- Antonyms & Opposites go in the lower right

Tips:
- Write big and bold. Fill the space
- Make sure everything is spelled correctly
- Write using bold, dark colors.
- Color and decorate using light colors, or light shading
- Be aware of the time and work diligently
- Do not just copy the definition from the dictionary. Try to fully understand the definition and put it in your own words if you can
- Be sure you include the part of speech (Noun, verb, adjective, or adverb)
- You might want to complete the model in pencil first, then go over your work in pen, markers, or colored pencil.
Your teachers will give you a template for your model, and I will show you some examples of good models.
