4. Raise your hand so I can give you a piece of colored paper for your shield

Prompt #1 - What does it mean to be a good friend? Explain in detail.
Prompt #2 - How should you treat people who are different from you? Explain your thinking.
Directions:
Read chapter 1 of Freak the Mighty & complete the Reading Guide. Be sure to:
- Write as detailed a response as you can on each part of the guide.
- Write neatly.
- Write in an appropriate size.
- Summary should be 4-5 sentences minimum.
- Omit References to King Arthur section

Reading Strategy - Annotating a Text
While you read it is important to annotate what you are reading. This will allow you to comprehend what you are reading and make more accurate inferences
- Use the back of your reading guide to record important information or questions you have while reading.
- As you take notes begin to think about the literary elements especially figurative language, characterization, and setting.
